the new building
Well, we're in.  The new building is awesome.  I love some of the work they've put into the renovations.  There's two sections of ceiling tile work, one over the main desk in the library and one over the escalators, with hanging lamps that are absolutely lovely.  They have a slight coppery tint to them, which really makes the lamp light warmer in those areas instead of constant glaring flourescents.
 
We also have working escalators now, so we don't have to wander around and climb the stairs all the time.  The elevators were working today, too... which was nice when I picked up lunch for everyone in Student Services and had my hands full of Long John Silver's.
 
It would be nice if we could get doors now.  Not everyone has a door.  Of course, the doors that are up seem to be getting changed out... so maybe we'll get really nice ones.  The ones that were up originally were really disgusting.
 
I went around today and made sure all the rooms had the right number of chairs in them.  People seem to be moving them from room to room... and it's really annoying because we're trying to keep a running inventory for when we start switching out old furniture from the other buildings with the new furniture that's on its way in.  We don't have all of it... or all of the new computers and white boards... yet.
 
However, looking at some of the rooms that are finished, this building's going to be really awesome.

Is it me or is roleplaying suddenly out of style again?  All my online RPGs are in the dumper at the moment... Well, most of them.  They seem to be getting slower and slower... with no relief in sight.  What used to be an über-popular thing to do has suddenly fallen by the wayside.
 
It's rather disappointing.  I enjoy the writing.  Granted, my time and creative energies haven't been what they used to be... perhaps I'm moving along at a similar pace to everyone else.  It seems a lot of people are starting to reach a burnout point.  Could it be that we're done?  Have we moved beyond the thrill and into the bored?
 
It's possible.  It's possible that no one wants to... after all, if you really wanted to do something, you'd make time for it, right?  Priorities shift, and it seems it's time for us to follow that shift.  Interests shift as well.  There's been a sudden resurgence of Star Trek RPGs vs anime... more specifically, Gundam Wing.  I'm sure there's Witch Hunter Robin out there... Inuyasha, Wolf's Rain, the more popular shows probably have RPGs up the wazoo.  Unfortunately, Gundam Wing has been out of the public eye for a long time, so people haven't been thinking about it.  That leads to less interest in roleplaying it... or at least, roleplaying it well.  Most of the RPGs I've seen lately are terribly played... characters are wrong, powerplaying is rampant, and the made-up Gundams are totally outlandish...
 
Yes, the AU Gundams are a bit outlandish in their own right, but for a Gundam in a Gundam Wing RPG to be outlandish... you know it's rediculous.
 
Yet, my creative energies are still flowing like crazy... just not in relevance to my current RPGs.  I feel bored with them.  And I don't know how to fix that.
