things that make you go 'hmm'
Things are not all hunkey dorey at work right now. People are not getting along with each other. The main catalist being Kathy, it seems. DeAnne and Laureen are not happy at all with her... and apparently Barbara isn't either.

Personally, I was getting a little ticked with things today, too... but I just attributed that to PMS. I've been PMSing big time for the last few days. It's just nutty.

Either way, they're just annoyed with Kathy over all... and I think the feeling's mutual. If I have to hear more nitpicking at each other, I'm going to freak. I'm tempted to go work for Grace upstairs and just lend my computer skills as needed to Student Services. I know Grace won't get all pissy about things like Kathy's been getting.

national day of mourning
We watched the funeral services for President Reagan today. They were very well done, very nice. It was interesting to see who was there. Reagan really touched all kinds of people in his life.

It pleases me to know that he's no longer held in the trappings of Alzheimer's. It's terrible to see what that can do to people. It's a real shame.

Woot!

We have a working database, and we have working php. I'm happy. Now... to figure out the next step. I think I'm going to have to convert the site into tables instead of the current frames. It doesn't seem to like me right now for that. That'll most likely take all day on Monday... and I hopefully won't have to travel between rooms anymore. It's annoying to have to ask for an escort to go anywhere.

A new intern started today. She seems pretty nice. Of course, I have no idea what they're going to have for her to do. They barely have enough work for me alone... now I have to split it with someone?

I spoke with Jeff today. We got a lot done over the phone with Larry down in IT. Tomorrow, I have to give Larry a ring and go meet her so I can set up the database for the site. Jeff's pretty sure I'm going to have to do it from the actual server. So, first thing, I need to figure out what the SQL and PHP will actually be to create the database I really want.

It seems to me that it's very hard to get in touch with people around here. They just don't seem to get back to you when you leave a message.

We've been trying since last week to get in touch with Jeff about the webserver again. I just have two questions for him. Next time, I'm going to call and just leave the questions for him on his voice mail, and he can call back with the answers.

Maybe things will get done faster.

The security interview was no biggie. I have some forms that I need to fill out and get notarized. I got fingerprinted and photographed. I'm meeting with him again next week after I get the forms finished up.

Regardless of what people might think of the man's politics, Alzheimer's is a terrible thing to have to go through. I just hope he's in a better place now.

movie review
I watched Lost in Translation with Dad tonight. It's an art film with a funny twist. Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Giovanni Ribisi, and Anna Faris are in the film. Murray plays Bob Harris, a movie star in Japan doing a sponsorship shoot for whiskey. He meets Johansson, the wife of a photographer played by Ribisi. Both are having a serious case of culture shock being in Tokyo. They latch on to each other, seeking some semblance of familiarity. Faris cameos as an actress in Tokyo promoting her new film, and she's a friend of Ribisi's character.

Done by the Coppola family, the movie is well written and surprisingly funny for an art movie. Sofia Coppola wrote and directed the film... and several other Coppola's were involved in the making of it.

I had a great time watching it. It's very funny and very enjoyable.
