guess i won't need that passport after all
We didn't make it past the first round. However, for a second year team, making it to Nationals is a big deal, so we're really happy just to have been able to make it here. There's always next year.

Anyway, this way, I can relax and enjoy the rest of my time here. I want to check out the job fair and go do some sight seeing at the Union Station and Liberty Memorial. Hopefully, it won't be too rainy tomorrow.

T-storms!!! Tornadoes scary!!!

Okay... now that I got that out. We had nasty lightening, which these people are apparently used to. Same with the tornado warnings. I didn't appreciate it, though. I don't mind T-storms... but I don't like tornadoes.

The lightening was awesome to watch, though. Just about the only thing to do around here...

So, since I have time tomorrow, I'm thinking of checking out the job fair for a bit, then heading uptown for some sight seeing. Liberty Memorial and Union Station are near the Crown Center and are supposed to be nice places to visit. We hit the Plaza on Sunday, but it was more like Fifth Ave in NYC. The only differences were shorter buildings and fancier set ups (architecture & fountains).

day two
Slept a bit late this morning. I woke up to a phone call from the team that they were downstairs in the restaurant having breakfast. We did a rough runthrough this morning and then broke for lunch, exploration, and naps for the people that had just arrived.

Marta, Walter, and I went over to the Plaza. It's a half hour bus trip from our hotel... and the closest place with stuff to do. Everything around here is shut down on weekends, apparently. I picked up a totebag from the Gap that I can use to carry stuff back in, since I'm checking my suitcase on the way home.

After we got back, we all had a quick break before heading over to the convention center for the opening rally. It was pretty cool. I'll put up the pics from today later. They had Tony the Tiger from Kellogg's there to announce some benefits Kellogg's is willing to give the winning team. The keynote speaker was Sarah Hughes, the Olympic gold medal figure skater from Long Island. They also presented some smaller awards to various people and teams.

We came back to the room afterwards and rehearsed some more. Suhani arrived just after we got back to the hotel, so we were able to get an idea on how much time we have for the presentation. We're a bit short on time. I'd rather be a bit over for a rehearsal since we'll all be more nervous at the presentation itself... which means we'll do it faster. That's what happened to us at Regionals.

However, our presentation has made drastic improvements in one day, so I'm confident about tomorrow... barring any strange happenings.
