delays???
Well, I'm writing this in Notepad to post later on while I'm on the plane. My 6:40 am flight turned into a 9:27 am flight... over 2 1/2 hour delay... O.O;;

We ended up having to get a new connecting flight out of Cleveland. Instead of going straight to Kansas City, we had to make a second stop in Memphis. Naturally, I got the "bring home magnets" call since I'm going to be in so many places that we've never been to before.

If all I have to bring home is magnets... I'm happy. They're inexpensive enough. I can't afford big gifts this year.

Anyway, the delays were caused by nasty thunderstorms over Cleveland late last night and early this morning. The airline only called a few people and I had my cellphone off, so I didn't get the message until I arrived at the airport at 5 am this morning. So, my parents and I headed across the street to the diner and had breakfast. I met up with Marta in the airport after an early morning panic, and everything's been pretty good so far. I'm now on my way to Memphis.

The flight to Cleveland was rather uneventful, despite the doom & gloom weather forecasts. Plus, the weather looks really nice when you're flying above the clouds... lol

I can't wait to get into the hotel room and take a shower. I feel rather grungy at the moment... plus, I want to take a nap. I'm starting to get sleepy.

Marta fell asleep... she's snoring. It's kind of amusing...

We have air conditioning!! Yay!! Now it's a bit cold, but it's better than having the sweat dripping down my back and legs from humidity.

The maintenance guy came over a few minutes after I started feeling a cool breeze. I was thinking, 'Wow... my nose is getting cold. Did they get it working?' He said that it would take a couple of hours because of the size of the building and that we had to leave the doors closed the whole time.

Not a problem. Now I'm freezing. ^^;

practice, practice, practice
Tomorrow I have to hang late because we're practicing for the competition. I'll have my laptop with me for the trip, so I should be able to log into the web while I'm away. That is... if the hotel has internet access in the rooms. O.O;; I kind of hope so. If not, I'll post about the trip once I get back. I'm also bringing the digital camera, so I'll have pics for everyone, too.

Anyway, I'm not looking forward to a late night tomorrow. I have a 6:40 am flight. O.O; It's going to be rough.

My ankle's still bothering me. It's been a three day thing and I'm pretty annoyed with it now. I don't think I hurt it, but you never know. I could have just stepped wrong. Who knows? Either way, I have it wrapped right now. I just hope it won't hurt down in Kansas City. I'm going to be spending a lot of time on my feet.

I'm doing letters... so I have to run. We're doing a, "Classes have started and you haven't shown up, yet" mailing.

I'm not quite sure about some stuff here... I need to get myself a book on PHP so I can learn to work with B2 and get better at making my own themes for phpBB. I use phpBB for my forum (which you should all visit and post on!!!), and I was thinking of setting up a B2 blog for the site at my internship. That would be the fastest way to get it live, and it would be a fairly easy interface for them to learn.

I can also show them how to upload pictures and link them, which isn't hard to do, and they'll have the whole site ready to go. With that method, they could be live in a few days. It's definitely something I'll have to look into when I have some down time this week.

nationals fever
I've been going nuts trying to get everything as far as work and stuff for my classes that I'm going to miss for Nationals. I have to read up to Chapter 4 in my Criminal Justice class, and I'll find out tonight what I need for Management Information Systems.

My MIS professor is pretty cool about it. He knows I'm on the S.I.F.E. team, so I'm already excused for that class. My other professor was also really cool about it. We really don't have a lot of work for that class until next Thursday, so I'm okay right now.

That's how I feel lately. However, it's a good version of the feeling. I'm busy, I'm not sitting home feeling sorry for myself, I'm not bored, I'm enjoying what I'm doing (for the most part... some of it's a bit crazy)... Things could be a lot worse.

Worried Republicans Glad Election Not Until Nov.

Okay... if they keep saying in the article how the current approval ratings don't matter... and that the important ones are in October... WHY ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT IT??!!

Either way, New York magazine has an article on the coming GOP convention in NYC. They're not looking forward to the loads of protestors that will threaten to swarm the streets, but the NYPD says they're ready for them. My problem is how these protestors think that causing all sorts of problems and running around shouting stupid slogans is going to get them support. Frankly, it just makes the more annoying to me.

I'm also ticked off that the Marriot Marquis is being taken over by all the security and what not because it forced Big Apple Anime Fest to be cancelled!!! ;_;

I'm really annoyed because of that. I missed BAAF last year because of miscommunication between the people I was supposed to go with, and I was looking forward to going to this year. {{sigh}}

Oh, well. Stupid politics.

I have an early Saturday coming up. The flight's at like 6 in the morning. I'm going to be too tired to enjoy my free day to explore Kansas City. That was one of the reasons I was going early instead of on Sunday morning.

I was hoping that I would have had a reasonable time for my flight. Stupid travel agency.

My foot hurts... I don't know why. And I still can't go to the doctor because I haven't gotten my insurance cards.

Oh, yeah! I got approved for the state health insurance plan! I have health insurance again! Well... after I get my cards I have insurance. {{sigh}}

More web work today. Unfortunately, I don't have the image I was promised. I might have it next time.

I have to work out with my supervisor/mentor about the S.I.F.E. trip. I leave this Saturday. O.O;

Anyway, I'm kind of bored today... haven't decided what I'm going to do for lunch. I kind of hope Nolan comes back. I have paperwork I need him to sign off on.

So, it turns out I'm not doing database work after all. At least, I'm not quite yet. They actually have me doing a website for them.

The department has its own intranet (which means I won't have a copy of it to do in a portfolio kind of thing... so I might have to figure something out in that respect), and they want me to do a webpage for their department.

"Can you make webpages?"

"Yeah..."

"Great!"

That was the first thing they said this morning.

I don't mind. In fact, I find website work to be a lot more fun than database work.

Now... to figure out a way to do this... Heh heh.

commencement fun
Graduation was pretty good. I had a feminine problem, unfortunately, which kind of wrecked things in that department, but the ceremony itself wasn't bad.

Chancellor Raisman was very long-winded. x.x;;

However, it was really cool to see people getting awards and stuff. They presented Valedictorian and Salutatorian, and Karen attended to present Jill & Julie with awards for helping the Sheriff's department expand their internship program.

Hence the reason I now have an internship. YAY.
