paperwork done
I have that interview for the internship next Wednesday. It's early for me to do it, since I'm not in my last semester, yet... but because the 'continuous enrollment' policy on my scholarship screwed up my last semester credit-wise, the Dean's letting me do it over the summer. She approved me today... so now I just have to get Patrice to sign the paperwork since she's the internship coordinator and I'll be all done with that. I see her tomorrow for more S.I.F.E. work, since she's on our business advisory board. She told me I could give her the forms then.

The internship will be database work for internal security at the Suffolk County Jail. I'll need to buy myself clothes (I don't have a lot of business suits that fit me properly right now, and none of them have pants anyway)... and it's not a paid internship... but the money I'm getting from work study (which will continue until June) should hopefully cover that. I lucked out and Financial Aid approved me for extra money in the 'unmet need' category... now I can work more hours and get more money. ^_^

That's a good thing.

Also, this internship will be a good networking opportunity for me in the law enforcement world, which is one of the paths I have a deep interest in lately. I'm looking forward to it.

speaking of work study
So... the guy I was supposed to tutor to help him through his math class never showed up for anything. I told him that I'd be in Student Services all week... and I was there when his classes let out. All he had to do was come on down and see me.

He never did.

Dorkwad.

Oh well, it's his grade. If he doesn't want to make the effort to improve his shot, than he deserves what he gets. I'm not gonna bend over backwards to get this guy going if he's not going to make the effort to meet me. Especially since I have a ton of other things that I needed to be doing while at work study.

party people!!
The party went well. All the pretty lights were mine... except the net, which was Barbara's. We did the whole building up to look like an enchanted garden, which was our theme. It came out really nice. We're going to leave some of the decorations up for Monday night's awards ceremony.

The DJ was really cool... and he's a student at the school, so he was really happy to do it and knew most of us at the party anyway. That was pretty neat. I also got to see Michelle & Jim. John came with me, and he was really excited to see the two of them as well.

We had a good time.

Michelle's going to have a baby. She finally saw the doctor, and they're projecting January for her due date. I'm so psyched for her. They've been trying for a few months now, and they had success. I'm so happy for her and Jim! I wish them the best of luck with everything.

So, last week I spoke with the woman in charge of the Sheriff's Department internship program. I told her I was interested in doing the internship next January. She was really excited about that, and she told me to get in touch with her after speaking with our Career Services Department.

Well... on Friday, we had the dinner with the S.I.F.E. team, the President of the College, the Academic Dean, and the Controller. Jill and Julie, the two girls who are currently in the internship program, said they had spoken with Karen (the one from the Sheriff's Department) that day. Apparently, there was a computer position available for the internship program, and it was running this summer. Karen had asked Julie if she was interested in it, but Julie's not a computer person. Julie suggested me (reminding Karen that I had spoken to them the day before). Karen thought it was a good idea and asked Jill and Julie to ask me if I was interested.

Naturally, I was.

So, I called Karen the other day and left a message saying I was interested. She called me back today and asked me a few questions after telling me about the position. She was really cool about it, and she said she would get in touch with the guy who would be in charge of the program. She told me that it would probably be a few days before she got back to me.

She got back to me today... again... O.O;

I now have an interview for the internship on Wednesday at 10 am.

Now I have to get other paperwork done in a hurry so I can get all that in really quick and have it approved by the school. I need to get special permission because this summer is not my last semester. That's not a bad thing, since I'm pretty sure Dean Germano will be cool with me doing this. I was talking about doing an internship with her when I did my registration.

I took my last final tonight. I did really well on it, too. I've got a really good feeling about my grades, too. I already know I got an 'A' in my math class. Professor Tawfik did our grades for us right away. I'm happy!

I got my cap & gown for the graduation ceremony. I feel so special. I have a maroon a silver tassel (school colors for Associates degrees) and the black cap & gown (with a white collar 'cuz I'm a girl... lol)... and we got these neat stolls to wear for honors. YAY!

Go me!

I'm really happy... lots of good things are happening to me right now. As crazy as things get, I'm really getting on a high about stuff.

So, they decided to give Marta the VP position. Frank's out now. I guess it's better that way if he was going to be so pissy about DeAnne not winning.

And here we go again with the 'he said, she said' crap already, too.

DeAnne went to Kathy L about me having told her, "When you lose, I'd still like you to be here." Perhaps that's how she heard it... and, either way, it's not a terrible statement. However, I was in no way going around saying that I was going to win no matter what. In a way, I was hoping she would win because I wasn't sure if I wanted the extra responsibilities.

Either way, I had planned on staying involved with SGA come September. I had said, "No matter what happens, I hope all four of us stay involved because I think we'd make a good team."

Does that sound bad? I didn't intend it to sound stuck up or anything.

I certainly didn't expect to win...

Maybe I'm worrying about this too much. I just don't like the idea of bad blood before I've even taken office... heck, before I was even elected. There's just bad omens in that.

We haven't even taken office, yet, and already there's an issue with the Vice President position.

Frank's upset that DeAnne didn't win President. So he wants to resign from VP-elect and let Marta take the position.

On the one hand, it's rather immature of him to resign just because his preferred 'partner' wasn't elected. On the other hand, it's extremely insulting to me that he would think I'm not worth giving the chance to. I mean, am I chopped liver because I'm not DeAnne? Not to mention the fact that we've got Marta hanging in the balance on what the results of the vote were because he didn't give Barbara a definite answer... said he'd 'think about it'. Barbara gave him until tomorrow to decide his final choice.

Either way, this whole thing is dumb.

in the meantime
Sheesh... tests like crazy. I just handed a take home test for statistics... and I still have a large homework problem to do for the class, plus the final on Wednesday... I also have the history final on Wednesday. Then... I have my Math final on Thursday.

Eek.

I hate finals time.

Also... there's all sorts of graduation stuff coming up. This Friday is a dinner/dance party... Monday is the awards ceremony... Next week on Saturday is graduation itself... Plus summer classes start on the 13^th. Yikes.

I'm just a tad stressed...

We were watching the new Iron Chef America today. Bobby Flay vs Hiroyuki Sakai... in "Battle of Trout". Flay won 55 to 51... out of a total of 60 points. Go, Flay! ^^;;

Two more episodes... Mario Batali vs Masaharu Morimoto & Wolfgang Puck vs Masaharu Morimoto. We're watching Batali vs Morimoto in the "Battle of Spiny Lobster" right now. Could be interesting.

We had a really good dinner Friday. We went to Trio in Patchogue, right next to the theatre. The College President, Controller, and Academic Deam treated the S.I.F.E. team to dinner to celebrate our regional win and to encourage us for Kansas City. It'll be really neat if we win... mainly because we would get to go to Barcelona.
