blink I must have the worst luck in the world. I walk in to work today feeling all upbeat and happy. I'm doing productive things. I'm getting my work done. I'm feeling pretty darn good. About 2:30, the bomb drops.
The nursing home decides it doesn't want to work with DGD anymore. You know what this means? That's right, I'm now out of a job again. As I was only a temp hire for the time they were there, DGD cancelled their contract with EAB Personnel, which means I'm no longer needed.
Well, at least I have a pay check to look forward to next week. And I didn't throw out anything I needed for job searching, so I can just pick up right where I left of.
Go fig, right?
More to come at another time... When I feel more like writing.

workin' hard One of the owners of the nursing home stopped by today. He, David, and Bob had a meeting today in the trailer with two guys about the telephone/data systems that are being installed. The group then went and met with the general contractor later.
It rained less today. I finished the filing pretty fast this morning. I also finished numbering the first two photobooks. I also got through the first section of photos in the last book. Bob and I worked out a new way of doing the logs for them. We switched out the bad floppy drive in my computer for a working one this afternoon and I was able to just give him the file with the log sheet template I made. This will save huge amounts of time. Especially since Bob's taken over 1500 photos of things that need to be fixed in the two months he's been there. There was one picture that showed drywall in the plastic, but the plastic had been cut open and the drywall inside was *covered* in mold. Wow...
We had a lot of incoming calls today, but most of them were fairly legit. Not a lot of telemarketors this time around.
alone The guys had a lot of meetings today. I spent a lot of time alone, which sucked because I finished all my work really fast and then had no one to ask if they needed me to do anything else. I ended up playing Solitaire, Free Cell, and Minesweeper a lot. I have a Win2K machine with no internet access. It sucks when I'm bored.
whee! I called Estelle today and we're going to get together on Saturday. Mom's working all day and, if it's not raining *too* hard, Dad will probably go work out at the club. I have Bellmore's Installation tomorrow night and I'm taking Deidre in with me, so I can't hang with Estelle tomorrow. If we can, it'll be cool to catch The Hulk on Saturday. I think it opens this weekend.

so now i'm a liar So, I posted a message on the RPG about how annoyed I've been getting about the way people are posting and the fact that I've been pressured by several players in this RPG about my posting. Well, one guy takes the whole thing personally (when I only addressed one part to him) and bitches me out, calling me a liar. I just can't win. These guys are incredible!
I addressed this particular person because of how he posted, and then continued on to rant about the overall IM practices of several players (including him). As I made a particular example, which wasn't about him, he took it as if I was still talking to just him and said I was lying about him.
I admit it, after rereading what I wrote, that it probably wasn't completely clear who I was talking about in my message. I apologized for that. However, I did *not* apologize for lying because I didn't. He made me feel pressured to post when I wasn't ready to, *and* he did some things that were bad RPing practices.
The issue that finally got me to say something was the fact that, due to his impatience, he posted again before I could respond to his last post. Normally, this is not a big deal. However, his character attacked mine in the last post, then attacked mine AGAIN in the next post. If it was so important for his character to run off and do something else because I wasn't responding fast enough, then he should have just had him break free. He should not have had his character attack mine a second time before I had the chance to react to the first attack.
But, I'm a liar, so... {{shrugs}} And apparently, this guy's worked more in two months than I have worked in my entire life. According to him, anyway. Does this mean I don't have an excuse for being tired? Guess so. I should get on my computer as soon as I walk in the door, skip dinner and hanging out, and don't stop posting in this ONE game ALL NIGHT, right?

Riiiiight.

long day So, I found out a few more details today. Apparently, the last assistant had been gone about a week before I showed up. Hence the backed up filing. Of course, I almost ended up not coming in myself as the owner hadn't paid his invoice with the company I'm temping to (DGD). I wasn't the only one who didn't come in this past Monday.
Anyway, I'm caught up with all the filing. In fact, I have none to do tomorrow morning, which is good, because I can continue working on the photo log book.
Of course, I've had the song "Penny Lane" in my head all day. As I was filing, I kept seeing the name of the nursing home, which kept popping the song into my head. I'm going to be singing it all summer. The name? Payton Lane Nursing Home.
The rain was coming down hard all morning and the basement flooded again in the building. One of the architects and another guy showed up to tour the site today with David. They both hit some nasty traffic, apparently. I wasn't really surprised. It's Long Island... {{shrugs}} Anyway, they went out and looked around a bit before lunch.
I really hate telemarketers. The trailer has been there two months... I'm assuming with phone service for a bit less than that. People are already calling us up with 'offers'. David got one early in the morning, I got one later about long distance service, and Bob got one about a dream vacation. Some people...
Tomorrow, I have to review the daily reports with David and Rob, make sure they're good enough to be faxed to the main office in Jersey. It's the first time I've done them, so I'm not really familiar yet with what needs to go in them or how to read Rob's notes from his daily walkthroughs. Hopefully, I figure it out soon. I feel a bit strange having to ask too many questions.
cash, it's what i want So, Friday, I do my time sheet and fax it to David. He signs off on it and faxes it back to me. He's at the main office on Fridays and not with us. Then, once he signs off on it, I fax it back to EAB, where they process it that night and over Saturday morning. The checks get printed and dumped in the Saturday mail, and I should have my first paycheck by next Tuesday or Wednesday. At least, that's what Laura from EAB said. ^^;; I can't wait. I'll have money!!!
sleep Right now... I have to get some sleep. I was up too late last night and I've been exhausted all day. I rambled about naps all day in my little notes. The same way I had kept notes during those Open Houses, I kept notes today. While there's things in there I probably shouldn't share with the general public about the site, it's still fun to look back and see what I was thinking.
Anyway, I'm off...

work day Well, I had a very busy day today. It was a lot of work. But, I finally feel productive again. I'm earning money, I have a job. Things are good. I've been down on myself lately, so this should be a good thing for me.
Today, I played a bit of catch up with some of their back logged work. They've been without an assitant for a while, so things were a bit hectic. Tomorrow, I should be done catching up by lunch. If not, I'll put it on hold until Thursday so I can get started on some of the other projects they want me to work on in the afternoon. I need to set up a log form to put in the front of the photo binders so they can reference the photos. I might also have to split things into to binders. Some of the binders are really full.
Anyway, I work with David of Damon G. Douglas Company and a contractor, Rob. And it's not EAB (Citibank) the bank... it's EAB Personnel Services from White Plains that I work for. ^^;; My bad.
But, apparently, the owner of the new nursing home is having problems with their general contractor (GC). So, they hired DGD to come in as a project management company and oversee what was happening. Let's just say it's not pretty and we have a lot of work to do to straighten this out.
Wish me luck!

back to my personal life If I get yelled at by some bored weirdo that has nothing better to do than post in an online RPG all day one more time, I'm going to scream. I have more than one RPG online that I participate in. I have more than RPGs to do when I sign onto my computer. I play games, I do my bills and finances, I post in this blog, I have a forum that I run, I have a website to maintain (which I haven't been able to do because of immature RPers who insist on bugging me to post right after they do because they're bored).
Wow, runon sentence...
Anyway, I have a life. I now have a job to add to that life. A full time, 8 1/2 hour a day job that it takes me about 40 minutes or so to drive to. I am tired today. I haven't worked a full 8 hours in a while, sadly enough. The last thing I wanted today when I signed on was to be told that I *have* to post by some RPers that probably haven't been playing online anywhere near as long as I have just because *their* poor little brains are bored.
LEAVE ME ALONE! for crying out loud...
Grow up and get a life or something!
I don't care how bored you are, don't pester me to post! I will post when I want to, thankyouverymuch! Deal with it.
sigh Had to get that out there. I feel a bit better now.

test run Well, it took me just over a half an hour to get to the trailer I'll be working at. I went today about midafternoon (approx 2:30 pm). I'm going to give myself forty-five minutes tomorrow morning, just in case.
Wish me luck!

father's day tribute All around bad dads are highlighted in a Father's Day article on MSN today. While my dad is thankfully no where near these nutcases, he can get a bit crazy. A good crazy, though, making him an overall cool dad. Mom and I got him an HO scale Denver Broncos model train. It's a collectible you can play with. While it comes on a wooden base with tracks, you can take it off the base, put it on real tracks, and have it run around like crazy. It's got loads of detail, too. My dad's a huge Denver Broncos fan (ever wonder where I get it from?), so we figured he'd like it. On top of that, he's always had a thing for model trains.
It was a success.
speaking of thanking dads I'm so thankful... He's going to lend me the money to renew the site. I'm paying him back as soon as I get it from the new job, but since I'm not going to have it by Tuesday (the day I start and the day the renewal is up), I need to borrow it. Talk about relief!
