chockfull of interview goodness Well, sort of. I usually feel pretty good with myself when I walk out of interview. It's rare that I feel like I blew it. Of course, that's not much of a forecaster since it's been extremely rare lately that I've been offered a job. Oh well, whatcha gonna do, right?
heh heh heh

Barbara Streisand, an environmental activist herself, is suing the California Coastal Records Project because they took aerial pictures of her property, which happens to be on the coast. The project is performing a study on erosion in the area and how it's effecting the California coast by taking aerial photographs to document changes in the cliffs. You would think that such an activist and supporter of environmental issues like Ms Streisand would be all for such activities, but apparently, she doesn't appreciate that the project is publishing their finding (along with photographic evidence) on the web. The reason? Her house is in one of the pictures.
You can see the offending pictures (they haven't been removed from the website as of yet) and read more about the lawsuit on the Project's website.
I love hypocrits. They're rather amusing, aren't they? It's not like they've plastered the fact that it's her home all over the photo. Of course, now they have... probably as retribution for her lawsuit.
missing it I'm going to miss picking up the flags tomorrow. Of course, a job search is very important. I'm kind of upset, though. I've only missed going to Calverton once before (again, the pick up). My parents are planning on going, though. I have to give Mom the paperwork so she can sign everyone in and get the patches.

more jewel news Yup... That's right. Now available for your listening pleasure are the full versions of "Stand", "Intuition", the "Intuition" video, the making of the Intuition video, and a clip of "Sweet Temptation". Pass the news! 0304 comes out June 3rd! Jewel's also appearing on Jay Leno on June 2nd.
Yeah, so I'm a little obsessed.
doctor's visits Took Nana to Dr Gioia today. He's the endocrinologist. She doesn't like going there. We had lunch beforehand. We went to this little place called Milk & Sugar down in Bay Shore. They specialize in various types of coffees and teas. Add to that a menu with various lunch and dinner specials along with some desserts and you have a small restaurant. It's cute.
job news I've gotten a couple of calls. I have an interview tomorrow at Atlantic Paper & Foil Group. I'm also going to stop by NBTY again. They have a Data Entry position available. I got another phone call today while I was out. I can call them tomorrow in between stops. There's plenty of time for me to come home in between.
I'm also stopping by the open house on Saturday at Acclaim. They're looking for game testers. I've always wanted to be a game tester. *_* It's a good "foot in the door" type of position and it's in the direction I want to go career-wise.
I also need to finish up the application process at GEICO. It was so long that I ended up leaving. I can do that next week or tomorrow, depending on how long it takes at NBTY.
There's another open house at Astoria Federal coming up. This one is a lot closer to home than the other one was. I was thinking of going, letting them know that I stopped by their Syosset office and applied, and then seeing what happens. It's not really far from home, so it wouldn't hurt to stop by.
more doctor stuff I have another appointment to take Nana to on June 10th. And I have to spend the day there (until Auntie Lyn gets home). She's getting some sort of pain shot and is scared about how it might affect her, so she doesn't want to be alone. Of course, the doctor couldn't do this on a weekend when no one would have to take time off to stay with her. Noooooooo... Oh well. Unfortunately, if I get something that needs me to start that week, Mom or Auntie Lyn is going to have to take time anyway... time they don't have.
On top of that, since we have money now after refinancing the house, Mom wanted me to make appointments with the dentist and the dermatologist. So, I did, since they both keep bugging me about it. So, I have those coming up as well, in addition to an appointment for the cats to get their shots and their nails clipped. They're going to be really happy about that, I assure you. There's a reason I let the vet do it. I like my skin in one piece.
and speaking of calls... I have to make one.

fun in the city Yesterday, Mom and I headed into the city. We took the train in, caught the subway up to the Museum, walked around a bit, got dinner, hit Tower Records , and then headed home. We had a really good day and decided we should go in more often.
american museum of natural history The Museum was built in memory of Theodore Roosevelt. The entire front hall is done up like a memorial, with quotes on the wall and stuff. There's a large brontosaurus rearing on his hind legs with what looks to be two velociraptors or allusaurus seeming to attack him in the center. We got our tickets and headed in. We checked out the African mammals room, the whale room (which was recently reopened after a huge renovation and looks great!), and then just wandered about until our scheduled time to enter the butterfly exhibit.
The butterfly exhibit is set up in what used to be the bird room. You can still see some of the bird exhibits in the windows around the room. They have a window that you can watch the butterflies through and there's a series of signs and pictures explaining different things about them. Once inside, your surrounded by plants and butterfly feeders. Apparently, butterflies like oranges and bananas. One of the women that works with them was holding an orange in her hand. A large butterfly was sitting on the orange eating away. I snapped a picture. I also got pictures of them sitting on the plants and the ceiling. There was one type of butterfly that had to be about 6 inches at the widest point of its wings. It was huge. We were watching it fly around the room before we went in.
strolling through the park We walked along 8th Avenue (Central Park West) for a bit, looking at the fancy buildings and stuff. We then headed into the park and checked out Strawberry Fields. Mom had never seen the "Imagine" mosaic in the sidewalk, so we stopped and looked. By now, the rain had tapered off quite a bit, so it was a good day to walk around.
We even spotted Lauren Bacall walking her papion (without a pooper-scooper!). Mom said she looked terrible. ^^;;
columbus avenue We walked over a block and wandered Columbus Ave a bit looking for a place to have dinner. We ended up at this small Italian café called Sesso. It was immensely filling and very delicious. Plus, the waiter was kinda cute. ^^;; They were really nice inside, too. Afterwards, we wandered downtown a bit and ended up hopping over a block to Broadway to head into Tower Records. Mom got a CD she wanted (I couldn't find anything that I didn't already have ^^;;) and then we caught the subway from Lincoln Center back to Penn.
yay! We had a really good time. Both of us started falling asleep on the train home. It was a very satisfying day.

blah Mom and I didn't go into the city today. She wasn't feeling well this morning. But, we've made definite plans to hit the butterfly exhibit tomorrow.

whee! Well, it's not exactly what I saw in my head, but it's pretty darn close. I hope you all like the new layout! I adopted the little "American Duo" from Heero's Ferret. Please pay a visit. There's some really cool stuff there, including some adorable adoptables!
Yes... I know... it's 7 am. >P Hopefully, I won't be too tired in the city today if Mom and I go.

early start Memorial Day Weekend. Flag placing at Calverton. At least the rain backed off for the actual placing of the flags. Plus, the ground was soft from the wet, so it ended up being a really easy job this year.
News 12 stopped by our section. We were interviewed! We got publicity for Rainbow! Yay! {{would post little dancing man here, but hasn't copied him from Yahoo! Messenger directory to website, yet}} If you play the video, you can see me. ^^;;
I downloaded a copy for myself. It's cool. *_*
shopping and other fun I went over to Estelle's. We went down to Babies*R*Us to get an umbrella stroller for the baby. She wanted something that was lighter weight than the 10 pound carriage she's got now for the short trips to the park or what not. Also, something that would be easier to fold into the car for the mall. We had success and it was only $20!
We then hit Applebee's for dinner. It was crowded, but we got there just in time. We only had about a fifteen minute wait. And the baby was very well behaved standing there with us. He just held our hands and jabbered away.
Afterwards, we went back to the house, tired him out, and got him into bed. We watched The Princess Bride with the small undertones of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" from the babies room since he kept pulling on this musical toy he has in his crib. It was kind of funny when the movie would go quiet and we'd hear him singing and making noises to the music.
yawn I'm exhausted. Dad said Mom still wasn't sure as of her going to bed if we're going to the Museum tomorrow. I really hope we do. I guess it depends on the weather, though the Museum has it's own subway stop. We might not even have to go outside, which would be pretty cool, and then the weather wouldn't matter at all. Yay!
Well, it's been a really long day. G'nite!
