dah dah dah My day was so boring. No job fairs today. Though, someone called while I was in the shower about my résumé. I'll call her on Tuesday.
Rainbow was a bust again tonight. But, the Bellmore girls will be coming to our next meeting. They have Initiation coming up on the 6th, too, so I'll brush up on a few Bow parts and see if they need help. Hopefully, Mom Betsy *won't* be there and I'll actually be allowed to help. It seems that the only time Majority members are allowed to wear gowns and help out at events is when the northern Assemblies need the help. As soon as they have enough members up there, screw the Majority members, no matter how desperately the southern Assemblies need them.
Frankly, the sooner certain people get out of positions of influence in NY State, the better for the organization.

Another FREE NYC Concert!
This message goes out to all of you in the New York City vicinity. Next Tuesday, May 27th, Jewel will be giving another free outdoor concert performance and you are all invited! It will take place at GM Plaza (59th St. & 5th Ave.) and Jewel will be playing there from noon to 1:00 pm.
CBS will be taping this performance and they are hoping for a big, supportive crowd for the taping. Footage from this concert is tentatively scheduled to air the following day on CBS morning programming. We'll keep you informed about broadcast details when they are finalized, but in the meantime, we hope many of you will come on by for the taping.

WOW! But... I don't think I can go. {{pout}}
jobness Well, I hit the two Open Houses this morning, but didn't make it to the fair in NYC. The Open House at GEICO took FOREVER!!! I wrote down a whole bunch of things that I was thinking there and at the Astoria Federal Open House.
thoughts of the day One of the longest application processes ever! Will NOT be going to NYC fair as it is now almost 11 am. NYC fair ends @ 3 pm. May or may not make Open House @ Astoria Federal this morning. May have to go to evening session.
Figures.
Don't remember if I signed & dated the back of the application. Oops.
Need water... {{gets some from water cooler in lobby}}
{{takes first test (reading comprehension)}}
Test was kind of silly. People are *still* filling out applications. Too many forms. 11:30 am.
Definitely not going to NYC, may have to go to evening Open House @ Astoria Federal.
Need more water. {{gets more}}
Very bored... hair keeps getting stuck under visitor sticker. I hate visitor stickers.
Middle aged guy w/ eyebrow ring & gay "boy-band" haircut. O.O;; Yikes.
Maybe I'll meet Dad for lunch. I really don't want to have to come back this way later. I hope I have time to hit the other open house.
{{talks to receptionist, gets permission to continue process another time, leaves}}
At other open house now. Was able to ask to leave & come back at a later date. I'll go back next wk.
This one looks like another long wait. Lots of people here. LOTS of ppl.
Thirsty again, but no water cooler here.
Looks like another long process, too. Tests, etc. I took one @ GEICO.
The girl in charge has an annoying accent & seems very "busy".
GEICO actually requires Direct Deposit. I was surprised by that. Some companies don't want to pay for the service. {{shrug}}
There's a woman distributing literature on their free checking accts... I already have an acct w/ them.
(doodle I drew at Tuesday's open house coming soon) from last open house @ TFCU... I didn't draw anything today... just wrote.
They might not have positions in Suffolk... I'm not driving to Nassau to be a bank teller... I can do that closer to home.
45 MINUTES! I have to wait that long?!
Benefits summary. Sick time accrual is a little odd. This other girl talks really fast.
Busy-body girl demands that everyone HAVE A SEAT... LOL
Strange creepy guy next to me digs through all the stuff on the table.
Cust just walked in with a dog in his arms... I think it's a bichon friese or a poodle with a flat cut (not that dumb french cut). Most likely a bichon. Cute.
Still thirsty.
I'm next! Strange creepy guy is on cell phone discussing dinner plans w/ "Steve's" voice mail. O.O;;
{{interview}}
yeah... Well, I was wrong anyway and it was a good thing I left GEICO when I did. They were actually the ones having the second Open House session this evening and Astoria Federal was only this morning. O.O;;; Almost missed out on seeing strange creepy guy try to fill out an application on a piece of paper inviting everyone to a Syosset Chamber of Commerce Networking Party. ^^;;
I also didn't have to take the test at Astoria Federal. She said that, if they were interested, they would try to schedule testing for me closer to home. Whew...
So, yeah... that was my day in a nutshell. I came home, chatted with Estelle, left John S a message about getting together tonight (which he never returned... {{pout pout}}), and then took a long nap. I was lightly sleeping until Dad came home... He didn't wake me up right away... Came upstairs around 8 pm. Mom wasn't home, yet. I think she had some sort of doctor's appointment that she had to take Nana to.
blah Blah...
Blah...
Blah...
make up your mind already I was telling Mom about my day. Not that long ago, she was telling me to just go and get something... anything. Which is basically what I'm doing. I mean, hell... I applied for a bank teller's job. Totally out there, right? Now she says I should go to an employment agency because I'm not going to find anything in my field otherwise. What happened to 'just anything'??
_-_ <---anime fall
I give up. My parents can be too confusing sometimes.
Dad was a bit more supportive when I was telling him how the day went. He was saying that one of his former coworkers had called him today. She was saying that her daughter is out of work, too, and having just as much trouble as me. She's been out for quite some time as well. {{shrugs}} I was telling him how I go back and forth between feeling productive and getting interviews and sending out résumés to feeling discouraged and depressed about it and just not bothering.
It's just frustrating, I guess.

merp Mom doesn't want me to go to the city tomorrow. That and she turned off the other computer, so now I can't print anything. I have to go turn it back on.
job fairs There's several tomorrow... two open houses and then the fair in the city. It's going to rain, they all start early and end late. It's going to be a long and early day tomorrow. Yuck. I hate the city in the rain.

yale update It wasn't the mail room. Apparently, an "explosive device", possibly electronic, exploded in one of the classrooms, taking out a wall. There were only a few students in the building. Some report a fireball in the hallway, but there was no resulting fire damage to the building. Still no injuries reported.
other explosions A natural gas line exploded overnight in Texas. Again, no injuries that I know of, and officials don't think it's tied to the terror alert, either.

No injuries reported so far... It happened only a few moments ago. FBI is already investigating. I wonder if this was why they raised the alert levels to orange yesterday.

end of the season Some big stuff on Tuesday night shows for season enders.
twenty-four Jack probably had a heart attack, but he was reunited with Kim. Chapelle dropped the charges against Michele and Tony because he needed them to find Jack. Mike was fired because of his involvement in invoking the 25th Amendment against Palmer. Prescott is still VP, but might end up being President anyway because Palmer was possibly infected by some sort of virus in an assassination attempt. Warner was talking to Marie before she was carted off to jail, but she wouldn't say anything to him. After he left, Marie told Kate that she wasn't 'safe out there'. Kingsley is dead.
It just boggles the mind.
JAG Harm quit the JAG Corps to go after Mac. He recruited the Gunny to go with him and the two went down to South America (I think) to get her back after her undercover operation with Webb was compromised. They break into the compound, extract Mac and Webb, and head out. Gunny is taking Webb to a hospital because he's dying, but gets caught at a military roadblock. They're searching the car. Meanwhile, Mac and Harm rent a plane from a farmer and go after the stinger missles she and Webb had gone down there for. They destroy the missles, but the plane gets shot up and crashes.
NYPD Blue There's a captain with a vendetta. He's coming after Lou and Andy in revenge for washing him up. He comes in with a list a grievances about the 15th a mile long. Meanwhile, Andy and Connie are making plans to get married. The situation between Clark and Rita intensifies to the point where she requests a transfer back to Brooklyn. Lou asks her to sleep on it and ask again in the morning if she still wants to. After everyone leaves for the impromptu wedding that is happening at Andy and Connie's place, Connie asks Rita if she's coming, but she says she wouldn't feel comfortable being around Clark because of their breakup last month. Connie understands, gives her a hug, and heads home. The captain comes in then, invites himself into Lou's office to 'talk'. He demands that Lou get Andy back into the office. Lou tries to cover for Andy, saying he'll page him and see if he's available. The captain sits down, rattles off a bunch of trouble he's had as a result of the investigation Andy and Lou brought on him, and then gets up. He starts yelling like crazy, obviously drunk. Lou tells him to get out or he's calling the authorities to drag him out. The captain waves him off, grabs his bag, spins and shoots Lou in the chest. He circles the desk and goes to shoot him in the head when there's another shot. The captain goes down and Rita's holding her gun. They don't know if Lou's going to make it and the wedding has appropriately been postponed.
a night of compelling drama and a few good laughs Yep. That's what it boils down to. The relationships between certain characters allow for cute little quips to come out, which always give me a good laugh, but, overall, it was a tough time walking away from the TV tonight.

up and running Well, the forum is up and running. Check it out! Join in the fun while you're there, too. It only gets as good as the participants make it!
other ideas Chat room? I get one of those for free, too. I'll definitely have to *think* about that one. However, since my GeoCities Guest Book isn't valid on this site, I should really install a new one. I get one of those free, too. ^_^
I love WebMasters.com. For about ten to twenty bucks a month, I get all this cool stuff. In order to add certain free features, I needed to add certain paid for features, but they were only like another five bucks a month. So I added the two I needed. Plus, I get a lot of space and bandwidth. I was looking at this other site (where I ended up registering the CrystalRealm.net address), and they really have a lot less than WebMasters.com. I might end up cancelling that site later. I want the domain name and I do plan on moving things over to the new one, I just have to change my DNS settings and what not. It'll happen. Just a matter of figuring it out and then taking action.

another one bites the dust I hit the Open House today at TFCU in Farmingville. I sat there and waited, reading their literature, deciding if I wanted to take any of it home, and doodling out an entire anime girl in my notebook (with time to spare). Good thing I'm not a smoker.
Anyway, the woman finally calls me out of the room. She stops in the hall and tells me that I have a lot of experience, but they're hiring for tellers and I don't have banking experience on my application. I mentioned that I had been a retail cashier for two years (but forgot the big one, I'll mention that later). She said they needed someone with teller and banking knowledge. However, they would keep my application for 90 days and, if a backoffice position opened up, they would be in contact with me.
So, I went home, complained to Mom a bit, and pouted about another 'easy' job that slipped by because I apparently have the wrong type of experience. I thought about it later and realized I could have pushed the Splish Splash angle, how I monitored and kept track of the cash flow in the park. {{beats herself over the head}} Damn.
I hate this job search. It's worse than the last one.
drive home I hit Taco Bell because I was hungry, or because I just wanted a taco... {{shrugs}} Either way, I was nearing my exit on the LIE when I considered driving out to Splish Splash to see if I could apply for something out there while I was still in my skirt. Then I figured, it's almost 5:30 pm. The main office people probably aren't there, and, if they are, they won't be thrilled about someone coming in to fill out an application at that time when they're trying to finish up their day.
Maybe I'll go tomorrow.
n.y.c. Of course, there's always the job fair in NYC on Thursday. My parents might not like the idea of me going in, but... {{shrugs}} I've done it before and they know about it. I just have to go where the jobs are.
Also, it doesn't necessarily mean that the only jobs there will be available in NYC. Brookhaven Lab was at one in the City at John Jay College not that long ago. I happened to have seen an article in Newsday about it. So, if I'm lucky, there will be a few Long Island companies at this one in the city.

earliness is bad for online shopping I editted my template, but I'm not sure it all went through. The archives index is up to date on the navcolumn, though. That I know for sure.
Anyway, while I was doing that, I was adding some links that I thought were pretty cool. The Realm Online may be getting a bigger make over. I'm thinking of starting from scratch anyway, but I got a new domain name. It's not active, yet, but I will soon have crystalrealm.net all to myself. ^_^ Now that weirdo that wanted my current domain name can have it. Maybe I should e-mail him and get another domain name out of the deal. Naaahhh... that's too mean. Besides, I don't even have his e-mail anymore. {{shrugs}}

yuck John S has been sick, it seems, and it hit him bad yesterday, so we didn't hang out. We might try to get together during the week, though. He's going down to Atlantic City for Memorial Day weekend... Lucky.
yay Today was absolutely gorgeous out. {{dances}}
random I'm going totally random here. My head's a little messed up at the moment with a bunch of different trains of thought that don't relate to each other at all. {{shrugs}} Oh well.
memorial day Ah... one of the biggest commercialized holidays ever (not counting Christmas).
Saturday is the Calverton flag thing. I have to call Frank from the American Legion sometime this week and see if we can get the girls into the ceremony on Saturday. I'd like them to participate in it this year. I'll find out details and then we can discuss it at our meeting on Friday.
Mom was thinking of hitting the butterfly exhibit at the Museum of Natural History in NYC on Sunday. The last day is Monday, so we figure Sunday shouldn't be too bad. Most people have their big parties on Sunday so they can be hung over on a free holiday and not lose sick time from work. Gotta luv commercialization, baby. ^^;; Anyway, John S had wanted to go, but he's got plans already. I'll see if Estelle and Aly want to come. No matter what, I want to go.
I've heard of two other ones, one at the Central Park Zoo, and one that going to be coming to Smithtown, but, according to people who've gone, the one at the Museum is supposed to be the best. I don't know what the one in Smithtown is going to be like, though. {{shrugs}}

no dinner I skipped on serving tonight. I had more fun at Estelle's. Johnny went to Paul's again, so it was just us and the baby. We went over to the pizza place, got a couple slices, and sat down to eat. The baby was very well behaved, though he did flirt with the girls at the next table. It's so cute when little boys flirt.
We went back, watched some cartoons while Estelle gave the baby his bath and put him to bed. Then, we watched Dogma. I had never seen it before, but I liked it.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon play two angels banned from Heaven, Bartleby and Loki respectively. They're annonymously pointed to a loophole thought up by a Catholic Cardinal (George Carlin) who's trying to get more parishoners. The Cardinal states that anyone who passes through the doors of his small church in New Jersey will be absolved of their sins. Bartleby and Loki figure that, if they cut off their wings and become mortal, they can walk through the doors of the church, be absolved of their sins, and return to Heaven. This, of course, proves God wrong and, since God can't be infallible, would spell the end of all existance as we know it. The Voice of God (Alan Rickman, Snape-with-Wings) comes to a mortal woman for help. Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) has had her fill of God. While she goes through the motions of being Catholic, she really doesn't believe anymore and can't understand why the Voice of God would come to her for help. The Voice of God says she will find two Prophets to help her on her journey (Jay and Silent Bob, of all people). Well, she does, only they don't seem to realize they're Prophets. Along the way, they're joined and/or hampered by the 13th Apostle (Chris Rock), two Muses (Selma Hayek and Jason Lee), and a trio of demons. Along the way, Bethany learns a few things about herself, the Catholic Religion, and the workings of the 'Cosmos', only to find that it's not exactly what she was taught it was.
It was definitely cute. I got a couple of good laughs out of it. While the language is a bit rough and therefore hard to mesh with a religious story, it's a foremost a comedy and a made up story, only using the Catholic religion as a basis. Try not to get too offended if you're Catholic (or religious in anyway). It's a story for fun and that's what it was... fun. I'm glad I finally saw it.
tomorrow Tomorrow must have been a busy day. Aunt Nancy called me earlier asking if I could watch the kids tomorrow. Unfortunately, because of the whole Rainbow thing, I couldn't. As it is, I really wanted to hang out with John S, but I don't know what time that's going to happen. I'm hoping it won't be too late. Patty asked that we bring our gowns as she wants to put on a small degree or something. x.x;; Ah well. I like doing degrees and Ritual work anyway. It won't be too bad, then. It's at 3 pm, but I have to be there at 2 for set up. I also want to pass on the information for Calverton next week. It's Memorial Day Weekend, which means placing the flags at the cemetary.
