talk about timing...
I just got off the phone with John S as I finished typing that up (the time stamp is when I started it while I was waiting for people to show at the library this afternoon, I actually posted it about 6:30 pm, my time). It's all settled. He's getting here about 8 or so. Woohoo! I'm going out! {{dies}}

is anti-war anti-american?
How can people go against their country so blatantly? Doesn't anyone read history books? How did they graduate high school with such ignorance of the past? Apparently, not a damn person is thinking about the whole Vietnam debacle with all their protests and other crap. And I sincerely doubt a single person in those protests has the amount of knowledge and any of the facts that the people who are making the decisions on what to do with our military have. They know a lot more than we do. Personally, I'm going to take their word for it, not some crazed whack job that tried to take over a whole other country several years ago.

I'm really tired of people showing blatant disregard for the country that allows them to do so. If they did this sort of stuff in some of these other countries (against their own country, not the US), they'd be killed in a public execution. They should be happy to be living here! Why do you think we get so many immigrants trying to sneak across our borders?

{{sigh}}

That's just my political rant for the day.

and now for something completely different...
Tutoring went well today. I had three students, one of them hadn't been through the school for tutoring before. I had her fill out the new student paperwork. We went over Chapters 1 & 2... with a little bit of three. I want to be able to cover more with them tomorrow, and then I'll be there again on Monday. I think I'll go in early on Tuesday, too, for a little bit of a pretest review. After all, this is helping me as much as it's helping them...

cold
The snow missed us this past weekend, but we're still cold here. And happy March, all!!! Only 19 more days until Spring!

night on the town
I've never been to this Dave & Buster's before. Guess I'll find out what it's like tonight when we get there. John S hasn't called me back yet and I left a message on his phone a few hours ago. I should give him another call, considering I have to pick him up in an hour and a half...

sigh
I found out what Mr Rogers died from. He had cancer. He was 74 years old. Not really all that old by today's medical standards, either...

meeting night
The meeting went well. We got a lot of business discussed. Aly was there, along with her mom. Patty, me, my mom, and Meta were there, too. Most everyone else had gone upstate already for the Homecoming that's tomorrow. Mom and I can't afford to go right now, since it's an overnight trip. We can't spend the money on the hotel room. Mom's also not going to Grand Assembly. She had the money she gave in put towards my convention fees for this year so I could go up with Aly. Patty's picking Deidre up from school in Connecticut, and we're meeting at the Friar Tuck. The Spencers along with Sheryl and Kristin go up the night before... Charsie and Kerri are going up on their own, as are Missy and Lisa, I think. I know Missy's coming up for her Majority at least. I don't know if Lisa's coming up.

tutoring...
Tomorrow's a big tutoring day, anyway. I'm having a big group session tomorrow. I don't know if the library's open, but, if it's not, we're going to meet in the student lounge at the Lake Street building. Then, we'll find an empty classroom so we don't disturb any classes that might be meeting. I think that will be the easiest.

new destination
Well, Cathy said we're going to go to Dave & Buster's instead of the Downtown tomorrow night. Apparently, the Downtown has a $15 cover charge. O.O;;; No way! So, we're not going. Nick's friend just won't have us in his cheering section tomorrow. That's what we were going for... Nick's friend is in a band, and they're playing tomorrow. I didn't go the Downtown last Wednesday because of class. I'm glad I didn't. I wouldn't have had $15 to pay to get in. I wanted to see Halfmanwonder that night, too. They're a cool band that my friend from SCCC knew and introduced me to. One of the band members is looking for a roomie in his nice apartment up in Northport, but I can't afford it. {{sobs}}

final blues
I've got my math final coming up next Tuesday. I've made myself available to tutor all weekend starting at 1 pm. I have students coming Satuday and Sunday... Then, I'm tutoring the usual time on Monday, 6-8. I'm going to try and finish the ten tons of homework he gave us tonight so that I can just teach them during the sessions instead of trying to do my own work, at the same time. At least all the work he gave us is final related. It's all stuff that he said might be on it. There's 20 questions (5 points each), and he gives partial credit if you show all the work. Dr C is cool. ^^;;;

presentations
I need to rework a bit of what I wrote for my presentation that Mark and I are doing on Monday... Well, hopefully doing on Monday. We'll see what order Brigid calls us up in. Of course, the nice thing is that we're having a party on Wednesday to end the session! We get to bring food and stuff, too! *_*

social life
Or lack thereof... Thanks to school, I have none. Go figure. With all the damn homework and stuff I've been doing lately, I don't have time to hang out. {{sigh}} And Cathy and Nick want to hang out on Saturday night. I should call her and John S and see what times we can all get together. Estelle left me an offline, too, asking how things went in class last night. On my break from homework and chores tomorrow, I'll give her a call.

speaking of phone calls...
I need to call BnW tomorrow, too. Now that the thing with NBTY has pretty much fallen through, I need to keep looking. I spoke with them last week on Wednesday. It's been over a week, guys. I'll call tomorrow and that's it. I'm just going to assume I didn't get the job if they don't call me back again.

get a job, nah nahnah nah, nah nahnah nahnah
I did find a couple of leads for jobs, though. I'm going to be sending out my resumes again either tomorrow or over the weekend. I really need one. I don't know if they got my payment, yet, but I think my cell phone might have gotten shut off. Keisha said she hadn't been able to get through to me. ^^;;; I'm really in dire straights right now...

death of childhood
Mr Rogers died today! Talk about a depressing thing for all us 80's kids who grew up with him on TV. {{sobs}} Nah... I'm not hugely upset or anything, just a bit shocked. I mean, they've got black and white episodes of that guy! He's been around forever!

depressing state of affairs
Not to mention the fact that all my online buds sound totally bummed right now... Well, a good portion of them, anyway. {{sigh}} Just another day for us all to sit alone in our little pits and feel sorry for ourselves. You know, I hate when I get that way. Then I look back on it and feel like I was just a pitiful mess of a person. I actually hate myself *after* I'm in those moods more than I did when I was in it. Which is why I try not to look back on them... {{shrugs}} Oh well. We all just have to get by, right?

interview results
It's not 8:30 to 4:30... it's 8 to 4:30... which wouldn't be so bad if that was the shift they're hiring for. But, they're hiring for 9 to 5:30, which is impossible. If it was still 9 to 5, no problem! I could still make it in time for math class on Tuesdays and Thursdays... but not 5:30... It only gives me ten minutes to get to school from work. Que es impossible!!! {{sigh}} However, Phyllis (the lady I spoke with today) was very nice and is going to hold my resume in case an 8 to 4:30 opens up. Of course, that's only if she's willing to work with me on the mandatory overtime (work 'til 10 pm!!!) issue. I can't work 'til 10 pm until the summer if I don't take any summer courses. Which means, my graduation will be delayed.

Time to do some priority weighing here.

other interview news (class-work-ness)
The mock interview in class went well, however. I handed in my CDP, and Brigid said I was the perfect interview-ee. I also got a lot of work done in my book and was able to hand that in as well. We didn't do our presentations tonight (well, Rob did his, but that's because he's worried about snow and wanted to get it done while he was there in case he got called into work next Monday), so Mark and I have to wait until next week. However, that gives me a chance to do a better job on my part of it. I'll be working on that this weekend, as well as any math homework I might get tomorrow night. Of course, I have a ton of math homework now that's due tomorrow. So, I'll be doing that all day tomorrow. Then, my math final is on Tuesday, so I'm probably going to have a ton of tutoring requests for the weekend. Maybe I'll do individual sessions for one to two hours. I'll make more money that way.

rainbow this friday
I have a meeting on Friday, too. I don't know if Patty made the calls for it this week. I'll call her tomorrow and see if there's anything she needs me to do. I also need to find my notes from last meeting. We were thinking about doing a St Patrick's Day dinner, but we need to get a hold of the hall, and St Patrick's Day is a Monday. We'll see what happens with that.

phone stuff
And... speaking of phone calls to make... SUNY SB still hasn't called. I guess I wasn't qualified for the position. There's no contact number for me to reach the person. I'll try their JobLine either tomorrow or Friday and see if I can get through to the person then.

$$$
I think that title says it all right there... Money issues. Dad gave me a couple checks that I wrote out to pay some bills with. I'm about to lose my phone and car insurance. If I lose my car insurance, my registration and my license get suspended, which would suck if I got pulled over. I mailed those two out today. I have another insurance bill to pay in two weeks (that first one is late... ^^;;;), and I have textbooks to buy for the next session's classes. Dad hasn't been giving me the credit card bills for the car payment, which makes me think he's paying it. He hasn't said anything. I'm afraid to. ^^;; Damn... This majorly sucks. I don't want to stop going to school because I'll have to start paying for the student loans, too. x.x;;;

I just hope I can pull this off without too many ulcers. Sometimes I think I'm developing acid reflux disease or something.

Oh well, I'll just ask him for the next two checks next week...After all, I don't get much time off between sessions, just a weekend. I'll need to buy my books right away. I can't wait for spring break! ^^;;;

job good-ness
Well, I got off the phone a little while ago with Zoraida from NBTY. I'm going in to continue the interview process with her tomorrow. I have to fill out another application (and I'll bring along another resume with me, too... just in case), and then go over to another building to see someone else. Zoraida mentioned something really quick about "nine-fifty", and I think it might have been a salary change, but I'll ask for clarification when I go tomorrow. They also changed the shift hours... It's now 8:30 to 4:30, but that still leaves me time to get down to the school in time to tutor with Evelyn (M/W) and Rob (T/T) at 5. Also, with the session change coming up, I'll probably end up with less homework next half. That and I might not have Rob to tutor anymore. I'm tutoring him for math and that ends soon. Evelyn's Physics class is the full 16 weeks, so I'll be tutoring her the entire semester.

job bad-ness
I still haven't heard back from BnW. It's been a long time now and I don't think I will be hearing back. But the scheduling works out better for NBTY anyway. Plus, I didn't know anything about the salary for BnW. I guess I'll settle with NBTY for now. It's money (possibly more than $7/hr, now, tho'), health benefits, and good hours.

household chores
I'm going to go vaccuum real quick and finish my laundry. Then try to get some more work done on the CDP before I leave for math.

long time no post
Blogger was down for maintenance last night when I tried to post. Then, I tried to post earlier today, but this girl sat down at the computer next to me in the school library and dropped her book on the escape key on my keyboard, erasing my entire post. x.x;;; So, I just gave up and didn't bother retyping it.

only in new york
Yesterday, my parents and I went into NYC. My mom has a friend who's an artist, and he has a showing at a gallery that's due to continue through Thursday. We missed the opening reception on Feb 1st because Auntie Lyn was in the hospital. So, we went in to see it yesterday. We caught the train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station, then took the Subway down to West 4th. Well... we miscalculated a few blocks and had to walk a few more down to the gallery. As it turned out, the gallery isn't open on Sundays anyway, so we ended up not getting in. ;_; So, we walked around for several blocks, trying to decide what to do. We ended up getting something to eat and just hopping the Subway back up to Penn Station to catch the next LIRR train back to Ronkonkoma.

One of the really cool things about New York City is the population. They're eccentric and love it. We saw several Subway and Street musicians, people handing out pamphlets for who knows what, selling just about anything you could sell, not to mention the everyday people that live and work there. We spent a lot of time down in Greenwich Village, SoHo, and the Washington Square area. NYU takes up several buildings throughout the Washington Square area. College students are funny. Being one, I know how crazy we can get. Some show it outwardly in their sense of style and others don't, but we saw some real eccentrics yesterday. It's been a while since I've been anywhere in NYC to really see any serious eccentrics. Midtown doesn't see as many as Downtown does.

The MTA also had this thing going on because of the Grammy's called "Music Under New York" (MUNY). They had a couple of 'shows' going on in Penn Station when we were getting ready to leave. There was a Salsa dancer and his 'partner', a female looking lifelike doll that he made dance with him. 'Her' name was 'Lupita'. He was funny. Then there was a Jazz/Blues band down at the other end of the station performing and selling some CDs. We bought one because Mom liked the music. It was good music!

Man, I love New York.

loaded with work
Well, now everything's due on Wednesday. I have to finish up the Chapters in the book, finish typing my presentation, and finish my CDP by 8:25 pm Wednesday night. Actually, I have to finish them by 4:30 pm so I have driving time to get to tutoring by 5. I won't have time to sit upstairs and do them before class.

movies
After I got home last night, I went over to John S's for a little while. We watched American Pie, 2. I hadn't seen it before. It was hysterical! I feel so bad for the character Jim. He always seems to have these horrible sexual misadventures. Poor guy. Basically, the story is about how Jim and all his old high school buddies come home from their freshman year of college. They get summer jobs and rent a house on the lake (Lake Michigan) for the entire summer, then have one huge blowout at the end of the summer. It's a really cute movie and a nice sequel to the first one. A lot of it is still about getting sex, like the first one, but it's also about how people grow up and change once they move away to college (or stay home and commute, like I did). I enjoyed it and got a good laugh at all the craziness.

job nothing-ness
Well, I haven't heard a damn thing from anyone about work. Guess I'm going to have to keep looking. I was so hopeful on those two positions with BnW and NBTY... {{sigh}} I just wish I didn't feel so overwhelmed with homework.
