Errr... I just realized, I can't call on Monday. It's a holiday. O.O;; Guess I'll have to make those calls on Tuesday then... ^^;;;

blog stuff
And Steph updated her blog! She even changed the layout... {{pouts}} No more Duo-kitty or Trowa-kitty, though. They were cute piccies. But... she didn't notice that I linked to her blog, too... not just Dan and Bob. {{sigh}} Oh well.

woo-frickin'-hoo
{{sigh}} You know... How many times do you have to tell someone that a particular night is going to be run a particular way before they figure it out. {{grumbles}} The entire Rainbow meeting went great except for a hissy fit by one of the Advisors. She made a huge deal that she cancelled plans and blah blah blah because she thought it was an Installation only. She was ticked off that she ended up sitting outside to be Outer Observer while we had the closed portion of our meeting. Well, no one forced her to sit out there. She seemed to have volunteered to do it. Then she was all pissy because she had to go home and was missing the Installation portion of tonight.

Well, you know what? Don't come if it's such a big hoopla to get there. I'm sick and tired of people complaining about how Rainbow interferes with their life. I make an effort to go because I genuinely care about the organization. Yes, I'm looking for a job. Yes, I'm tutoring. Yes, I'm going to school. Yes, I have tons of homework and chores and phone calls to do. But, I go. Why? Because it's been such a huge part of my life since May 29th, 1992, that I just can't give it up. If you have such a problem getting there, then just don't bother anymore.

It annoys me to no end how some of the people involved don't want to step down, but complain that "they have lives" outside Rainbow. Well, wake up. You're not the only ones. We all have things to do other than go to meetings every second and fourth Friday of every month (excluding the summer), but we take the time and make the effort because, when we joined, we took an Obligation to be there. And they wonder why no one comes anymore. Well, when half your Advisory Board only shows up for Installations, it gets a bit discouraging to see no one there to support you at regular meetings. It certainly makes the girls not want to come.

Mom's so disillusioned right now she's taking her Grand Assembly deposit and the refund from last year's and putting it towards mine. She's not even going up this year. She is so hurt by the lack of support and cooperation the Advisory Board gave her when she was Mother Advisor. They kept telling her that she had to do things a certain way, when there's room for change. She was so tired of hearing it, it made her wonder why they bothered stepping down in the first place. If they still want to be in charge, then shut up about the personal lives and do the work. Don't tell everyone else what to do and whine when it isn't done to specifications.

some goodness
Other than that, everything else was great! We Installed Ally as Sister of Faith, we Installed the Advisory Board and the new Mother Advisor (yay, Mrs Hassell!), we had a regular business meeting, and got to read minutes and correspondance and all sorts of stuff that we haven't done in ages because we haven't had a real meeting in ages. Unfortunately, poor Ally missed out on doing her Drill Leader part again, but this time it was because our Grand Deputy wasn't there. I won't even go into that except to say that I said everything I have to say on it in the last four paragraphs. She was probably out having a life with her husband, even though she promised us she'd be there tonight at the meeting two weeks ago when we decided that we were doing this whole thing. And not even a phone call to say she wasn't coming or that something else had come up. Just didn't show. {{sigh}}

congrats!
But, big congrats to Ally on being elected Faith (we had members there who could elect her, so it wasn't just her electing herself ^_^) and starting her journey up the line. I'm hoping that more people will be able to come again (now that they've seen the state the Assembly's in) so Ally can have real meetings. And hopefully, we'll have a big Assembly for her to preside over when she's Worthy Advisor in two years.

And another big congrats to Mrs Hassell (not to mention a big thank you) for taking on Mother Advisor. I'm hoping Patty has some new ideas to help get the Assembly moving again, because Mom's all tapped out. And I most certainly hope the rest of the Advisory Board shows more support for her than they did for my mother.

And I think that's all I have on my current Rainbow rant...

no calls??
I haven't heard anything on that Programmer/Analyst job at SUNY SB, yet. I also didn't hear from B-n-W like the guy said he'd call today. I'll call him on Monday and see what's going on. Hopefully, I'll hear back about the Programmer position, too. I also want to call NBTY on Monday. I think I'm just going to go through with the rest of the interview process with them. Because B-n-W didn't call back today, I don't know if I'm going to get that position. Right now, NBTY is my best bet. I don't know if I'm qualified enough for the Programmer position I applied for.

broken quizzes
Apparently, some of the images in my quizzes aren't showing up... {{grumbles}} That either means the site hosting them has shut down, moved the pic, or deleted the pic. Now, I'm going to have to find a way to find them again... either that, or I'll just delete the link to the quiz pop-up. If I can't find the image to host it on my own, I'll just delete it.

job application-ness
Okay... They added an "Apply online" link, so I applied to the other position at SUNY SB. Hopefully, she'll get back to me sooner on it. I think I'm qualified to handle most of the position, and I can learn the rest. I always learn better as I go and in a real world situation. I don't have the degree they want, but I'm working towards it, so hopefully they'll overlook that. I guess we'll see. ^^;;;

homeworkness
And just as I thought I was catching up, Dr C killed us in homework today!!! He gave us a $#!+ load of work for this weekend!!! I think I'm going to die! x.x {{dies}} Well, there, I did. Of course, I'm going to be getting some extra tutoring time in. With all the homework we have to do, Rob, James, and Keisha all asked if I was free over the weekend to help them out.

job goodness
Rob e-mailed me! I had just been thinking of calling him and he e-mailed me today to let me know that he picked me to do the front end of his website. I'm so excited! Of course, front end means he has more than one person working on this, which I'm seriously going to need. Doing a database style website is a lot of work. I'm glad I only have to do part of it.

job badness
The woman from SUNY SB called and said their position was only part time. She said there's a full time programming position on their website. Unfortunately, I have to go through the entire application process again because it's a different department or something. x.x;; I'll look into it and see if it's worth applying. I don't know if I'm qualified for it.

I also didn't go to the job fair at school today. Frankly, I wasn't thrilled with the idea of going. The main reason is because most of the positions the companies that show up are looking for are not what I want to be doing. I hit the last job fair at the school and the selection sucked... to be blunt. I really wasn't in the mood to go and be discouraged that no one was looking for someone with my talents and major.

job choice-ness
Hopefully, I'll find out tomorrow about that Secretarial position at Benjamin and Williams. Then, I'll call NBTY on Monday. Depending on how much information I can get out of the guy on the phone tomorrow about B-n-W, I'll give my answer to NBTY about continuing their interview process. I have a feeling I might go through it anyway, just so I don't lose a chance at the position if the B-n-W thing doesn't work out.

paidness
Or lack thereof... o.o;; The school still hasn't paid me. I don't know if they pay at the end of the semester or what. Unfortunately, Bob Vertuccio (my boss and the Assistant Dean of Academics) wasn't in his office when I dropped off my paperwork. I'll have to give him a call soon and see what's up with that. The woman that was there when I applied didn't say what the pay period was. ;_;

coldness
It's supposed to hit a whopping 8 degrees tonight. That's cold here! Long Island sits just off the Gulf Stream, so we don't get cold and snowy winters like this one often. I just hope we don't miss class because of snow again (we're supposed to have snow again all weekend). As much as it's really neat to have a snow day and all, we can't afford to in these 8 week classes. As it is, Dr Gibbons says he can't open the school next Monday (it's a holiday, but we were going to go in anyway to make up what we missed) and we have to go in on the 21st instead. Just what I want to do all Friday night... 5:30 to 11 pm... x.x {{dies a third time in one post}}

rainbowness
Tomorrow's the 'big' night. We have mock Initiation, Elections, and Installation. Hopefully, Ally will make it. I've been trying to reach her for the past two days, but she hasn't been home and I think Ita (her grandmother) forgets to give her the message that I called. I also wish my mom would make some of the calls, too. I get too discouraged to put effort into making a ton of phone calls for people to come to things and then no one shows up. {{sigh}}

valentine-ness
And thanks to Estelle, we have Valentine's Day cheer in one of my comment links. ^_^ YAY! Since I'm not seeing anyone, I probably wouldn't have posted anything myself about it. Her poem was really sweet, though, and dedicated to her husband. *_* Sweetness!!! I just had to say something where everyone could see. If she lets me, I can move it here onto the main page for tomorrow's post so it's posted for Feb 14th. It's just a really nice poem.

ness-ness
I couldn't help it... I was going to make my last title "be mine", but all the other titles were 'ness' titles. So, I went themed tonight. ^^;;

explanation, please?
Well, Evelyn called. Apparently, her son sprained his ankle the other day in gym and is home from school. We're going to resume tutoring next Wednesday since we're off from school on Monday.

make-up!
Well, not quite... but we still have to make up those classes we missed because of the snow. So, even though there's no classes on Monday, I'll still be here from 5:30 until 11 pm for class. O.O;; Yeah, I'm in the library again.

still not here
Lynda didn't show today, either. It's now a quarter after five. And Rob isn't here, yet, either.

conflicting hours, conflicting choices
I'm going to work out a new time with Evelyn, maybe... depending on what the call is tomorrow from Benjamin & Williams about the secretary position. Their office runs 9-5, so I wouldn't be able to tutor people at 5. But, if that position doesn't work out, then I'll probably call NBTY back and go through the rest of the interview process. Either that, or I'll just go through it anyway for the practice. At least, this way, I won't lose the position to lack of response. I think I'll give them a call tomorrow. And I forgot to call Rob back today about that web position... ^^;;;

wow!
Time for class! And Rob just got here, too. At least he's in class with me.

you are that, so i'll treat you like this
We did a 'social exercise' in class today. We had to wear party hats with a saying on them. We didn't know what the sayings were that we had on our own heads, but each person had to treat us like that saying was how they felt about us. It basically was meant to show us how people can be judgemental and illustrate how important a first impression is. Also, we discussed how being treated like we were made us feel and discussed possible ways to combat it without burning bridges.

missing students
Well, almost all my math students showed up today, Rob, James, and Keisha. Tommy wasn't there. However, Evelyn didn't show again. x.x I'm beginning to wonder if everything is alright. If she didn't want tutoring anymore, she should have called me. But, I'm a tutor... it's not my job to keep her in line. I'm not a professor, and $5/hr sure as heck isn't enough to warrant me calling someone. If she doesn't show next week, I might call her, though.

eye candy withdrawal
And, another case in the missing student department, Eye Candy from math disappeared. {{sobs}} He was so cute!!!! I'd really hoped he'd want tutoring, but... {{sighs}} I know he's a computer major, too, so maybe I'll see him in another class. *_*

be vewy vewy quiet, i'm out hunting jobs
There's a job fair tomorrow. I don't know if I should bother going in case they're not hiring in my field. I cannot repeat enough how discouraging it is to walk into a job fair not knowing it's specialized for a particular field and keep being told, "We're not hiring for that kind of position right now." It's majorly harsh to deal with and extremely discouraging. And with the huge job hunting high I've been on for the past few weeks, I'm actually nervous about going and having that high come crashing down. With two interviews in the past two weeks, I seriously don't want to lose my momentum. I'm doing good!

attack of the killer brain fart
And I still can't remember the awesome thought that I had earlier. Four IM conversations just like totally killed my thought process. Not to mention all the math I did at school, remembering an awesome blog topic was not exactly a priority.

work work work
Homework!!!! x.x {{dies}} I am swamped! And, I have to admit it, I'm a bit behind on my Career Development Portfolio. I have some major work to do tomorrow between chores and phone calls. I have to put out line calls for Friday night's Rainbow meeting, telling people that it's mock Initiation, Elections, and Installation. I have to clean up in the kitchen. I have to finish my laundry. I have to balance my poor sickly checkbook. I have to clean up in my room. I have to vaccuum. I have to do my math homework, my Career Development Portfolio, and work on a presentation for school. x.x {{dies again}} I can't believe how much I have to do.

job stuff
Plus, I also want to catch Rob about the web job. I didn't get a chance to call the woman at SUNY SB that I sent in my resume, cover letter, and application, but I sent that out last Friday, so I'm assuming she got it. I plan on getting back to NBTY by Monday. Maybe I'll go through the next step of the interview process there. I don't want to put it off too long and lose the chance if some of these other things don't work out.

re-read
Wow... I'm obsessed about finding a job. It's amazing how motivating lack of $$$ can be. It was one thing with lack of health insurance, but now I don't have any money to pay my regular bills or go out and have fun. Figures, right?

My credit is so shot if I keep this up. O.O;;;

positive thinking
But, Brigid handed out more affirmations in class today. Things we can say to ourselves to make us feel better. {{sighs}} I guess I should have brought in that blank tape for a copy of the meditation thing... ^^;;;

yay-ness for clique-ness
My application to Soul Mate was accepted and Duo is officially mine! *_* Still waiting on the others... {{sighs}} Some of them won't tell you if your application is rejected, just that you have to try again. I don't know. Maybe I'll take them off someday... I just like the little graphics. ^_^;;;

interviews galore
Well, I went on another interview today. This time with a collections agency. They're looking for a collections agent, a secretary, and a salesperson. I figured I'd go for the secretarial position. I told them about my experience with the race track and doing registration, and about when I was working at EES. Also, I told them about working at Splish Splash, Nortel Networks, and how I have customer service history. This guy said he'd get back to me by Friday. I'll call him Monday, if he doesn't.

I also have to call Rob about the web design position, as well as the woman at SUNY SB. Then, I can get back to the woman at NBTY about that position.

The main thing I'm worried about is scheduling. Because I'm also tutoring, I might either have to work my tutoring schedule around my new job, or work my new job around my tutoring schedule. Also, I'm really hoping to get into something where I have health benefits. That's one of the appeals about NBTY. Health benefits and the ideal schedule. I just wish it was a little more money than just $7/hr. {{sigh}}

You win some, you lose some, I guess.

teach teach teach
Gosh, I haven't been sought out for math help this much in my life ever. I've got a group of them coming at six tonight. Rob, Tommy, and Keisha. If Tina can't tutor, I'll probably end up having James at my table, too. And I think Jennifer is going to try to make it, but I'm not positive on that.

fun fun fun
Now, I have class, too, tonight. We're having a party in class to see how we react to social situations. Unfortunately, I have no cash, so I can't buy anything to bring with me. I'll have to see if there's anything I can nab from the house. It's a sort of potluck type of thing where we're bringing our own treats.

newness
Added some new links and moved things into a new section. ^_^ "fanness".

eep... brain fart
And I had something really cool I wanted to vent, but I got distracted by like four IM conversations, and now I forgot. ^^;;;;

reassurances
My friend and I had a long talk today. Took up the phone for like 2 hours. ^_^;;; She and I have both been feeling a little down, but we talked, found a few good things that we liked about ourselves and each other, discussed how relations were with the others we hang out with, and then hung up the phone laughing. It was a good thing. YAY FOR US!!

absence makes the heart grow fonder?
Lynda didn't show up today. O.O;;; I got to the library at five, but she wasn't there. I wonder if she dropped the course. I didn't tell her she should, but I did tell her that she didn't need to know some of the stuff they were teaching her. I hope she didn't misinterpret the things I said. I ended up helping Rob with the math homework instead. He's been out from school for a while because of eye surgery, and he wants to get caught up.

Our teacher was back for math tonight, too. Apparently, he got into a car accident or something last Thursday, but he seemed okay today. We went over some new stuff with graphing. I'm not a big fan of geometry, but I like analytic geometry, using graphs and things to find the answers. And today's work was pretty easy.

wow!!!
Big discussion on my last post. I replied in the comments, for anyone who's interested in checking it out and seeing where the debate is going. I'd rather it not get into a big hoopla, but... if you must vent some insanity, that's what it's here for! ^^;;;

bhd, tfd
I played the new Delta Force: Black Hawk Down demo last night. It's not bad. The guy runs a bit slower, I think, and the game itself isn't as fast paced, though I think it will be once more people are playing it. I still liked Delta Force: Task Force Dagger better, tho'. You can find out more information on both games on NovaWorld. I'll add a link in my NavColumn if it isn't there already.

war, hoo-ah, what is it good for?
Yeah... I'm a lyric nut with classic rock. ^^;;;

Anyway, there's a huge debate going on between a bunch of Laura's friends about this Iraq thing (yes, I read blogs that are linked on my friends' blogs). I do agree with certain view points. It's not fun to see family and friends get shipped off to a dangerous place. It's not nice to hear about people being killed. But, it happens. We're not the only country to go to war with people. Other countries have gone to war with us in the past. As much as I'd like things to be all hunky dorey, they just won't be. There's too many people in this world bent on total domination. And, well, let's face it, guys. America just isn't all that popular.

Oh, yeah, we're their best friends when they need money or military aid or emergency disaster relief. Being one of the biggest, richest, and most powerful countries in the world makes us an automatic target for all the beggars in the world. Earthquakes in Turkey and "No one is here to help us" because the Americans just haven't been able to get there, yet. Meanwhile, the British, the French... A whole bunch of other UN countries showed up to help. Are we supposed to just sit back and be the world's lapdog, bending over backwards at everyone else's beck and call? I don't think so, folks. I work hard for my money, and I'm just tired of seeing all those tax dollars go flying off to some freeloading country that will probably hate us tomorrow.

We helped Bin Laden fight against the Russians. A good portion of his weapons were from us. You know how he repaid us? Yeah, you guessed it... 9-11. Why are we going out on a limb for these people? Why do we bother helping anyone when all we get back is lost money, war, terrorism, and heartache? Not to mention every insult imaginable in every other language around the planet.

Well, you know what? I'm proud to be an American. I'll stand up for our beliefs and our way of life. And, if Bush wants to kick Saddam's @$$, I won't undermine him. Instead, I'll wear my yellow ribbon and tie one around the birch tree in the front yard (we don't have an old oak tree on our property). I'll support those men and women that are going to fight for us. They knew what they were doing when they joined the military. It's a shame they have to go, and I'm saddened by it, but I applaud their bravery and will to defend our nation and people. In fact, I admire it, because it's something I know that I would never have the guts to do myself.

Go, America! God bless her.

There's two more fairs being done by the same people on Wednesday and in March. I'm hoping I won't need to go to the one in March. ^_^;;; But, I registered for both of them as well. snow day!
Well, that's two in a row. Last Friday and tonight. I got to school shortly after 5 pm. Evelyn wasn't there and ended up not showing. I hung out until 6, but none of my math students showed up. Then, the professor that teaches the Intro to C course that meets in the library at 6 said that they were closing down the school. The Security guard came upstairs shortly after that to kick us all out and tell us he was locking up. I left around 6:30 or so. So, another class lost. Guess I'll find out on Wednesday if we have to make these up.

meet me at the fair
Tomorrow's a job fair at the Huntington Hilton. I'm thinking of going to check it out if the roads aren't bad. If I go out, the plow guys can clear my parking spot during the day. That's one thing I like about living in a condominium. The maintenance is in our Commons Charge, and we don't have to do any lawn mowing, yard work, or snow removal ourselves. I do have to say I hate the closeness of our neighbors, though. v_v;;;

more new stuff

jingle bells
And we have more snow! It's been going for a while now. Started out light with large flakes, but it's gotten a bit heavier and with smaller flakes as the day goes on. That means, it's getting colder and drier than when it started. If they cancel class again tonight, we're not going to catch up. Tonight's a regular meeting of the class I was supposed to go to last Friday. I can't go this Friday if they decide to do it. We have an Installation at Suwassett... and mock Initiation, and Elections, and... Well, it's an important and busy night for Rainbow.

more stuff
I also added some more sprites as well as new cliques. Don't forget to check out all my links! These are all sites I like and that's why I put them here. I wouldn't recommend them if I didn't think they were any good!

laughing out loud
WOW! Shanghai Knights was great!!! We had so much fun last night! I couldn't stop laughing through the whole movie. The woman in front of us said she enjoyed us as much as she enjoyed the movie. Estelle and I laughed so hard!

Jackie Chan (Rush Hour 1 & 2, Operation Condor, Super Cop, Rumble in the Bronx) plays Chong Wang (mispronounced into John Wayne throughout both movies), a former Imperial Guard from the Chinese Empire. In the first movie, he was disgraced during his travel to America to find Princess Pei Pei. Now, stranded in "Wild West", he has made himself at home and is a rather successful Sheriff in the territory of Nevada. Owen Wilson (Royal Tannenbaums, Behind Enemy Lines) plays Roy O'Bannon (also known as Wyatt Earp, ha ha), a former outlaw, playboy, drinker, and gambler. Though, it seems that, in the beginning, O'Bannon hasn't completely abandoned his wild ways. He's gone off to New York to supposedly invest the money he and Chong received in reward for rescuing the Princess (who's staying in San Francisco). Back home, Chong Lin, Wang's sister, and their father are still in the family business of protecting the Imperial Seal, a large diamond set in a gold medallion that symbolizes the Emporer's power in China. This job was originally supposed to be passed down to Wang after his father's death, but his father feels his son is dead to him because of his disgrace by staying in America. When Chong's father is killed, Lin sends him a puzzle box with a note, saying what has happened and that she is tracking the killer to London, England, to avenge their father and bring back the Seal. This causes Chong to go to New York to find O'Bannon, get the money, and try to get to London. All the hi-jinx of the first movie come back full force for another round of full belly laughs and great martial arts fighting.

Go see it! If you like comedies and Jackie Chan, you'll love this movie! Not to mention the great outtakes in the credits!

moving on up
And another big "WOW!" comes here. The leader of the American Eagle squad asked me if I wanted to move up from the Eagle Squadron (the group for newer members) and into the Eagle Raiders Sniper Team. Eagle Raiders is another level of the American Eagle Squadron and is separated into a few 'departments'. Then, there's core 'American Eagle', which are the elite members of the team, Squadron leaders, and it's founders. I'm really psyched out about that. I've been working on being a sniper, and I find that I can be frustrating to a lot of people, which is a cool deal. While my 'run and shoot' isn't that great, I'm good at patiently sitting back and watching for the target. And I always make sure to pass word if I can't get him so someone else who may have a better shot can get him. I enjoy playing on a team and working with a group, especially the AE guys. They're a good group of people to work with on the game.

decadent sin
We were just watching the Food channel upstairs after dinner. They were making all sorts of chocolate dishes and candies and cakes... O.O;;; {{mouth waters}} I'm not a huge chocolate freak, but some of the stuff they were showing just sounded so good! They traveled the US in search of each state's best chocolate makers. Yum.

new-ness
And AJ's got his blog up and running! YAY!!! I added a link to AJ's blog on my navcolumn so all of you can go have a looksie. {{grin}}

I also went sprite crazy! Check them out in my 'randomness' section!
