woot Google's hiring bloggers! I'm definitely applying. Hopefully, they're local positions. There's no location noted on the job descriptions.
for the third time this month The cops came again today to talk to the people in 7 and the people in 11. Today, they took the wife from 11 with them when they left. No handcuffs and she was in the front of the car, so they didn't arrest her... I don't think. I wish I knew what was going on. It's really confusing.
Yes, I'm nosey. Mom and I opened the front windows and tried to hear what was going on. Of course, after calling the cops to your house three times, people are going to wonder what's happening. The thing that bothered me was, when they left with the woman from 11, the group standing near 7 all started clapping (the group included people from 8, 6, 13, and 15). One of the women from 8 even started singing, "Ding dong, the witch is dead..." The woman from 10 had a few choice words for them, which then resulted in a short, tit-for-tat style shouting match of "I'm better than you" type phrases. How joyful that was...
Now, my parents and I have never had a problem with the people who live in 11. However, I think this all started when the guy staying with them started dating and living with the woman in 7. She's a divorcee with a young son who's been living off the alimony and child support payments. From what I can tell, she has what seems to be no marketable skills anyway, and she spends her time "finding herself" instead of worrying about how she's going to support her kid. She insists on placing rocks everywhere around the commons in small decorative patterns (I have no idea where she gets all these rocks, but she trucks them back to her house in the back of her fairly new Caravan) and sitting outside to do everything from what looks like meditation (laying on the sidewalk in a white housecoat) to gardening (which includes cutting down a small tree with a band saw and then sawing it on her lap into smaller segments).
Mom and I have decided she's a bit looney. If you've seen half the stuff she does, you'd think so, too.
Anyway, this guy apparently had a falling out with 11, for the first cop showing involved a lot of yelling about getting a key to get his stuff from the "other house". It's a known fact that the couple in 11 own another house. Why they don't stay there all the time is beyond me. I would rather live someplace else, myself... but that's besides the point. Either way, this guy wanted his stuff back and the couple in 11 apparently wasn't letting him go get it by himself. Loopy goes and calls the cops (like she apparently does with everything, since her ex-husband is a cop) and it turns into an all out legal situation.
I happen to know for a fact that the women in 8 and the extended family in 6 are all fairly close to the lady in 7. They probably spend a lot of time together at the bus stop with the kids, and the kids are all pretty good friends when they aren't running around chasing each other and doing unwanted touching (girl from 6 tattled on boy from 8, saying he "keeps touching me!" once). So, the fact that they all stood there together supporting each other wasn't a surprise.
What bothered me was the applause. I don't know and don't want to know what happened. You don't applaud. It's kind of rude. Unless a murderer or rapist has been captured, you don't applaud. It just goes to show how trashy these peope are. I've seen things from these people's wardrobes that I really didn't want to. It's one thing to desire to be comfortable, but I don't go running out my front door in boxers and a wife beater, I would appreciate it if the woman from 8 didn't either. Especially when she's wearing her manly tubesocks with the stripe on top pulled halfway up her calves. I take the time to get dressed because I know that others can see me.
It's a condominium, for crying out loud. Not exactly what I'd call a private home. When I can look across the way and see into your kitchen with no effort whatsoever, it's *so* not private.
I can't wait until I can get out of here.
birthday blues My dad's birthday is this Saturday. I don't know what I'm going to get him. Mom and I gave him the really cool present for Father's Day (the Broncos train). Then, his mother wanted to do a dinner get together, but she decided she wasn't up to entertaining and suggested a picnic over at the sportsmen's club. Well, Saturday shows a chance of late day thundershowers for the area. Not exactly picnic weather. Dad suggested Medieval Times. I like Medieval Times. Mom, while she likes it, too, wasn't thrilled with the idea.
Here's why:
1. Her mother may find out and get jealous that she wasn't invited, despite the fact that she would probably be miserable for the trip over, and probably wouldn't be able to sit in the chairs, and probably wouldn't be able to see the show very well. This assumed from her own words that she likes to say very often. Frankly, I don't want to be the one sitting next to her having to yell descriptions of the entire show to her the whole night. I love Nana, but she gets awfully frustrating and we're having a hard time telling if it's of her own doing or if it's for real.
2. It's a well known fact that my mother isn't very liked by my father's mother. Spending a long time in the car with her is not going to be a fun thing for my mother. They tolerate each other for the sake of a good time and to make my dad happy, but my mom will most likely not be happy.
3. Dad has not yet made reservations. It's Fourth of July weekend. The place is going to be jammed. Getting a lower level table on the end of the row is going to be hard. Grandma (nor Nana, for that matter) is not going to have an easy time getting up and down the steps or getting into a middle seat. They're tight and difficult to navigate. I'd hate to see what happens if someone has to go to the bathroom and we're not on the end. On top of that, last time we went, Mom had no problems climbing over the seats herself. Her hips aren't what they used to be either and I don't think it's going to be that easy for her this time.
So, there you have it. All in all, it should prove to be an interesting weekend.
God save me now...
