Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

Well, it's been an awfully long time since I've written anything here. I haven't really had the drive to. Then there was the fight with my domain name.

Don't even get me started on that.

I did manage to get the old one back for a while. Then again, I don't know how much longer I'll even have a website up. It all depends on money and interest. Frankly, it would do me good to set this up as some sort of online portfolio. I know that. A showcase of my talents...

Blah blah blah.

I'll get around to it someday. Famous last words, right? Yeah.

In the meantime, I've been keeping better track at my LJ here. The other LJ sort of went belly-up, since I really only made it to watch friends that had LJs. It's still there, though. I found it when going through some old friends' profiles. *chuckle*

Maybe I'll play around with it again. Who knows.
