Thursday, January 15, 2004 ( 8:20 PM ) The Duchess Yes, we get paid. I lucked out and get a whole $8/hr for up to 20 hrs a week. We've been really busy this week because it's the first week of the semester, too. I got an assistant position in Student Services. We monitor attendance, registration status, schedule changes, stuff like that. We're also there to answer questions about the school and help people find tutors. Then there's my tutoring gig I do on top of the work study. I'm allowed to work as much as I want anywhere else... just not more than 20 hrs here at the school. So, I tutor as well. That's less money, though, and I get paid less often. We get a check to take home at the end of the week instead of it going into our tuition bills... which is nice because I can use it to "feed" my car and get to class. ^^;; # ( 4:21 AM ) Danny Play You guys get paid????? # Wednesday, January 14, 2004 ( 6:59 PM ) Angie Work study jobs generally range from being a teaching assistant and working in campus offices....to serving food in the cafeteria. I've had a couple work study jobs, but always as a teaching assistant--grading assignments, tutoring students, etc. Also, work study jobs don't pay much. The most I've heard of anyone making here is the TA team leaders, and they make about $7 per hour. I typically get $6.55 an hour for being a teaching assistant. --;; # ( 6:45 PM ) Laura Nyaaaaa! What is this getting paid for work you do? Haha, the government doesn't quite get this concept. It cannot grasp the thought that I would like very much to get paid. ;_; Stupid people. And now I have to get up at the crack of down to meet with some guy who may give me another job that won't be paid. I swear if it doesn't sound interesting, I'm quitting and looking into a new internship. --;; Or job. Whatever. Rarr! # ( 6:24 PM ) Mandie Work study is what some students do to pay for school... They get jobs on campus that work around their school schedual, and it allows the student to earn some cash during the school year. Sometimes the money will go to pay for school, or to other things they need... At least that's what I've been told about it *shrugs* I'm not positive. # ( 3:02 PM ) Vahun What is work study? # Tuesday, January 13, 2004 ( 2:48 AM ) The Duchess Work study is busy... O.O;; Oi. # Sunday, January 11, 2004 ( 11:20 PM ) Angie Vahun, I've been in the line. And in spite of things, I'm actually in a really good mood now. I guess things are looking up. ^^;; # |
